K.Burns Presents: “Digital Massacre” Mixtape Series

It has been a long time coming for the Team Fame Gang, especially myself (K.Burns). Setting up my own releases (albums & mixtapes alike), as well as my fellow Team Famers; has been strenuous work. But over the last year, we have all vowed to take our recording into overdrive. Thus, we are now right on each others asses (excuse my language) as far as building our catalogs.

I have been dropping mixtapes consistantly in New York City since October 2006. 5 solo releases to date have been in rotation since, and many have went to become certified as Gold in the streets. Though those days aren’t fully behind us, I can sense the doors of opportunity closing slowly.

With that in mind and with the percentage of online downloads nearly doubling, I have taken it upon my own will to bring forth a major online mixtape series for the remaining half of 2009. “Digital Massacre” is a series of releases from K.Burns; exclusively for online distribution ONLY. These mixtapes will not be sold on the streets or on the shelves of your local stores in shops. Instead, fans will have to hit the web to get a taste of K.Burns & the Team Fame Movement.

Starting early July 2009, I will be dropping a bi-weekly mixtape. Each release will be apart of the “Digital Massacre”, where you can hear anything from the latest freestyles, remixes, exclusive singles, collaborations with Team Fame artist & unreleased music from K.Burns that will be leaked through the series.

There isn’t a set date for the first release, but its definately going down between the first & second weeks of July 2009. Mixtapes will be available on various sites such as datpiff.com, mixtapepass.com and possibly livemixtapes.com, as well as all online social networks and communities.

It Has Been A While…

It has been a while since I have been in contact with the online world. FYI, no I wasn’t in a hiatus, nor was I slacking in my music grind. I have found time to myself, and most of it was spent with my 7 month old daughter Kelis. In April of this year, I also lost a close friend of mine who was killed. So between mourning, spending time with my daughter, and recording a shit load of new material…it has been quite hard for me to find time to blog. Sorry to all those who was tuned in.

After a long night of recording, drinking & smoking @ Explode Studio in Brooklyn NYC…we decided to use our last 15 minutes to lay something quick down, and all six of us just jumped in the booth and “went in” back to back. The homie Tex Styles got right with the camera work and I told him no matter how the footage comes out, I would still edit the joint so we can have something to watch. The second clip is just a montage of me and Prophecy speaking on the official Team Fame Album we working on and all that, look out for it, shout out to all involved, Sour D|Fish Gang, Preme|Swagg Society & Flamez|Team SHAFF.

Above is a video montage that I had the chance to edit of some footage compiled of me in the studio on night. It was a cool experience, because believe it or not I am not one for the camera, and also; I rarely get to see myself on the screen. Anyways, it was a cool session. The Gang was there of course (Prophecy & Chase Peso), as well as S.W.A.G.G. Society & more.

Explode is a really cool studio to record at. The environment is right, we can smoke our Bob Marley of course. And the engineers G, Tony & Polo shows the family alot of love. It was cool to do all of this within a 2-3 hour time span (recording music & filming footage)…and it’s really interesting to see what I can do with time on my hands.

K.Burns Appoints DJ Fresh aka “The Young Gunna” as His Official DJ!

What has been in the works for the last year and a half, now finally comes to past. 2009 marks the beginning of a new era of mixtape & street releases from K.Burns as he announces DJ Fresh’s will be his official Mixtape DJ.

Talks and debating have been going back & forth amongst both parties. When the 2 (K.Burns & DJ Fresh) decided to go into the studio to put together “Lifestyle of a Mafioso” (out this Spring).”Even though this isn’t the first official project me & Fresh did…I think ‘Lifestyle of a Mafioso’ will set the bar for mixtapes & street albums to come…step ya game up n****s.” DJ Fresh will now be hosting ALL of the K.Burns street release of 2009.

Here I give the online community of hip hop, one of my classic mixtapes…”Brooklyn Gangster” hosted by DJ On Point. This project was completed the end of 2007, around early December I would say. The official release was set for Jan. 1, 2008; after the unbelievable hype that came from my appearence on the BET Rap City Cipha on December 12, 2007.

When I recorded this mixtape, alot of changes was coming about in my life, especially with just turning 21 at the time. I had been doing music for a while, and always wanted to release a project with a hot mixtape dj (especially with me being a fan of mixtapes). So when I was recording this project at Fully Focus Studio with Ryo, me and him began to brainstorm on which dj’s he may have connections with. And which one would accomodate me and this release the best. In the end, we ended up fucking with the homie DJ On Point (whats goodie my geez!), and made history.

We’re launching this show off correct, I guess it would be a good idea to get to know and see what I’ve been up to in my career. In December 2007, I had just wrapped up the recording of Brooklyn Gangster hosted by DJ On Point. L&X Music decided to help me out with a little bit of promo through his connections. A close associate of ours pulled strings to make the whole situation go into motion and luckily I was able to be on BET Rap City before their time was cut short on the air for whatever reasons. Anyhow, it was a cool experience and a dream come true all in one. I am very grateful to have been featured on a BET Rap City Cipha.
